Red, white, rosé, and sparkling — I’ve had the privilege of tasting some amazing wines throughout the years. If you’re looking for a delicious bottle of red or white to drink, these are some of the best!

Tenuta San Guido Bolgheri-Sassicaia Sassicaia (2015)

Made with a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes, this rich and concentrated delicious red wine features notes of black currant, blackberry, violet, mineral and spice flavors. Dense yet lively, structured yet impeccably balanced, the vibrant acidity drives the long, fruit-filled aftertaste. The oak is beautifully integrated as well. Wine experts have consistently scored this as one of the best Bolgheri wines. Best to drink from 2019 through 2042.

 

 


Château Canon-La Gaffelière St.-Emilion 2015Château Canon-La Gaffelière St.-Emilion (2015)

The 2015 Canon la Gaffeliere is a blend made of mostly Merlot grapes (55%), with the rest made of up of Cabernet Franc (38%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (7%) Still youthfully tight and backward, the palate is medium bodided with black fruit notes mixed with cedar. The core of cassis, blackberry and plum fruit waits in reserve, showing prodigious depth. Best to drink from 2025 through 2040.

With mouthwatering tobacco and warm ganache notes leading the way, followed by a wave of fig, blackberry and black currant preserves, the 2014 Canon La Gaffelière is a great red with Cabernet Franc aromatics which give the wine its signature taste. It may be tempting to open it now, but put this one aside in the back of the cellar. Best to drink from 2019 through 2035.

 


Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2005

Packed with dark fig, currant, espresso, licorice and chocolate notes, the 2005 vintage of this French made wine from Southern Rhone Super delivers layer after layer of sweet spice, with fruit pumping through the finish. The elegant fruit flavors are delicious and can be enjoyed over a beautiful meal or by itself! Best from 2019 through 2030.

 


Tignanello

Antinori Toscana Tignanello 2004

This blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc offers aromas of blackberry, with hints of raisin and lots of spices. Full and velvety, with wonderful concentration and a long, rich finish, this red is a tried and true favorite from Tuscany that is rich in taste and best to open now!

 

 


Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac 2004Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac 2004

Another winner from Pontet-Canet in Bordeaux, this 2004 vintage reveals beautiful aromas of crushed berries and currant. Made with a blend of mostly Merlot grapes, but also of Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, this classic, balanced and medium to full bodied wine is best to experience from now till 2025.

 

 


Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape White 2009

If you’re looking for a fresh white to open up, the 2009 Clos des Papes is perfect. With notes of almond, green plum, yellow apple and verbena, this white wine holds intense aromas and flavors of candied citrus fruits and honey as well. The finish is really bright and mouthwatering. It’s best to open now.
